In april 2014 we were on this tour with Jackie to Tanjung Puting National Park (Kalimantan). I will never forget these tour! It's a lifetime experience! I learned a lot about photography and how to use the different technical possibilities of my camera! And we had interesting discussions and got lots of information about the orangutans and their endangered life in the rainforest. This combination and the familiar atmosphere made this tour so special! I really can recommend this trip to everyone who wants to learn something about photography and to do this in a fascinating environment with these amazing orangutans. It doesn't matter if you are beginner or expert - Jackie teaches very individually! And Mara from Orangutan Aid Hong Kong who were also with us told us a lot about orangutans! Through the days we went with a klotok down the river to visit feeding stations - for example at Camp Leakey. We were very lucky to see a lot of orangutans during our tour. So we had many chances to take photos. And not only from the orangutans there were also a lot proboscis monkeys along the river and other animals like crocs. There was also time to relax while we went with the klotok down the river. And we visited a village. At the end of our trip we went on a market in pangkalan buun and learned more about taking portraits. If you want more information about this trip: www. jackiepeers.com My personal conclusion is: we all have to take care about the rainforest and that the rainforest will be still there in future for the orangutans and the other animals! Otherwise we will miss them!!! Orangutans are amazing! And I am glad that I had the chance to go to Borneo to meet them!

Orangutan Photo tour - Clients images 2012
An 8 day tour to Kalimantan, Indonesian Borneo.
Jackie Peers photography tours
Just finished a tour with Jackie Peers in this national park in the most southern part of Borneo. It was personal, fun, and challenging. A range of cameras between the 5 of us gave us ample opportunity to learn what a camera can do. The push to 'see' in new ways produced surprise and pleasure in our own efforts. Extensive photo records to prove it have been gathered.
Jackie is well traveled and picked a particularly interesting spot for this tour. River, Crocodiles if you can see them, Jungle, Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, Macaques, bird life, towns, food markets all provide good photo ops.
We went to see Camp Leaky where in the early 70's Birute Galdikas started her research with the Orangutans and where the research continues. I am left with a feeling of awe for the range of life possible and a bigger awareness with another example of how humans affect the lives of these beings.
