Just to thank you again for the wonderful lesson - which I feel has been the easiest-to-comprehend and practical photography class so far. Look forward to our future sessions soon Anny Sai Kung Private Tour
I was skeptical that a photography tour would have much to offer a beginner like me, but the day tour through Kowloon markets ended up being the highlight of my Hong Kong trip! Jackie handled the various levels of expertise in the group with ease. I left knowing so much more about my camera, and confident in taking photos of crowded streetscapes and varying lights. She gave each member of the group personal time, and taught practically – you end up answering your own questions as you experiment with your camera. We also saw parts of Hong Kong I would never have known how to find. I would recommend this for a photographer at any level – our group had a point and shoot, a basic DSLR (me), a much more advanced DSLR and a friend of mine who is a semi-professional. Jackie had something to offer all of us. Highly recommended Jennifer Blake/ Australia/ Kowloon Markets tour
Although I have been studying photography for several years, a day of instruction with Jackie gave me a whole new practical approach to taking pictures that resulted in printed photographs that were notably different than photographs I had taken previously. It gave me new ideas and things to practice which I really appreciate. Taking photos in the summer rain actually worked to our advantage with regards to the light and color saturation. And besides that, it was a fun rainy day. Bill, Hong Kong, Private Sai Kung tour
We're back in Kerikeri and I just wanted to take a moment to write you a quick note. Thank you so much for taking time away from your family to take me on the photography tour while I was in Hong Kong. I really enjoyed meeting you and learned a lot during our day together. I found myself going back through my photos before the tour, and wishing I had your tutelage during the first week or our trip and not the last! Sarah, New Zealand, Kowloon Markets
"It is very seldom that you are lucky enough to link up with someone who has a passion for their craft, and a passion for the land in which they find themselves that comes out so strongly in their work. Spending a day with a camera, in a small group with Jackie, was an absolute gift. As I teacher, I acknowledge how hard it is to accommodate the needs of different students with different skills, and to be able to extend all of them at their own pace without pushing them, and yet still be able to keep them in your corner . Our group of six was very diverse;- everyone's goals just a little different, just like our equipment, our skills and energy. Jackie had the unique ability to encourage us all differently. To spend time with each of us, and to give us the leisure to learn in our own way... Each of us finished the day knowing much more than we began with; -not just about the stories the people, the history and all its quirks,... but how we could show that in our pictures . We could see things very differently from when we began … Thank you for a brilliant day." Elizabeth (Bet), Hong Kong, Tap Mun Chau Tour Dear Jаckie! We would like to thank you for a terrific morning we’ve spent in Kowloon markets. It was our first day in HK and definitely one of the best we’ve spent in the city. Without your help we would have never made it that far into the residential area ourselves. Нaving a strong interest in photography we were fascinated by the feel of the old HK we’ve discovered on the narrow market streets of Kowloon. Thank you for uncovering this treasure and showing it to us! Apart from some evaluable advice about experimenting with my camera and technique which actually got me thinking about a new way of seeing things through the viewfinder we also got a lot of extremely useful information on getting around the city which helped us a lot all through our stay, as well as some useful tips as to where we can find interesting places to see and photograph! Thank you very very much for your help and guidance! And hope to see you again soon, as we’ve firmly decided to come back to your beautiful city!
Jackie Peers , one of the principals of the operation, took me for a guided tour of the Kowloon Market and surrounding Mong Kok district. Jackie took the time to asses my level of competency and interest and tailored the tour accordingly. I had a great time and given that I only had one day in Hong Kong, I felt that I really maximised my emersion in perhaps what could be called the real Hong Kong. While we were limited by the weather, Jackie had a number of other areas to explore and I will be back at some stage to continue the exploration through abandoned villages and Hong Kong landscapes. Jackie provided a wonderful day, great service/value and excellent company. Damian Kowloon Markets full day photography tour
"G'day" Jackie, We've now arrived home and my most vivid memory of our trip is the Photographic Day spent with you at Sai Kung Park. How you brought the area to life with your local knowledge and interesting stories. I valued the day of learning more about my camera - your teaching style was just great, and thank you for your patience and encouragement. It was good being able to take the time to stop and practise along the way. You would be impressed by the amount of experimenting I've been doing - it all helps to build confidence with the camera. Jackie, thank you so much for a fantastic day and I would not hesitate to recommend your tour to any keen photographer. Best wishes, Heather Kelly
Dear Jackie Thank you for a wonderful day with a good learning curve. I really believe you brought me a level up in photography. I looked through the photos on our television and that made a world of difference for many of the pictures. The pictures of the rusty wagon had so many more colours in it when seen in big size. I have attached the four photos that I believe turned out the best - whit the one cropped as we discussed. Further I made a collage of the four. (below this text images) The website I mentioned is: www.photo.net Thank you once more Jens-Christian Denmark Tap Mun trip
Hi Jackie Thanks for a great day last Thursday....was terrific to see so much more of Hong Kong and find out how much more the camera can do!! You showed me buttons I never even knew existed and it certainly has motivated me learn more and practice!! Thanks again Cheers Dale
Hi Jackie, Many thanks to you - we had a great day and learnt a lot. We all left motivated and fired up to go and learn more about how to use our cameras. We will certainly recommend Walk Hong Kong to others, especially our friends here in Macau, and friends who visit us here in Macau who are always on the lookout for something different and interesting to do. Your tour really shows a different side of Hong Kong. Leanne
Hi Jackie, It was a fantastic day on Thursday and feel a lot more confident on using my camera and learning about some of the different functions for creating a different feel to my photos. The location was just superb and it was a place that we had not heard of before and would not have gotten to. I just need to learn now how to take photos at night-time, tried using some of the settings that we used on the day but they dont seem to translate too well for night-time!
Here are some of my photos and welcome any feed back that you may have. Look forward to doing some more walks with you in the very near future. Again, thanks for a wonderful experience! Cheers Ange
Gesa , Germany
Hi Jackie Just a note to say how much we both enjoyed the trip last Wednesday. We both feel that we really got a lot out of it. Having originally booked the trip as a b'day present for Paul I feel almost guilty that I enjoyed it as much as I did ! It has certainly awakened an interest for me that wasn't there before in trying to do more than just 'pointing and pressing' with my camera. Paul really enjoyed the day (and of course he's actually delighted that I have stopped huffing and puffing at him every time he stops to take a shot...) Friday was our last day and we had an 'urban' day in Hong Kong via Star ferry then going round markets and temples etc - again with the cameras. We were both surprised at the detail we are now seeing in everyday things that perhaps we didn't even notice before! Ann and Paul, UK
Hi Jackie, Thank you, Jackie, for a great class. It really exceeded my expectations. I was expecting a lovely day in the outskirts of Hong Kong, coming away with some special photos, but not the learning experience that you provided. I honestly now look through the lens differently than before. And I must admit, I feel my photos are more interesting; for myself and also for those with whom I share. I highly recommend your photo class for beginners and experiences camera buffs alike. And especially for travelers who want to find something different. Thank you. Craig Maginnis San Diego, California.
"Hi Jackie, just to say thanks for a great days walking and photo workshop at (or near) Sai Kung. I loved the informal but informative and friendly set up. The photo workshop gave me a lot to focus on (pardon the pun). I thought I had a reasonable understanding of my (canon d40) camera but you gave me some new ideas and I now work in Av mode instead of P mode which seems to give me much more control. Thanks. It was also good to see a different part of Hong Kong and the new Territories not on the tourist map. I would recommend your walks to anyone who wants a different take on the area from someone who has lots of local knowledge." Robert England www.robertthacker.co.uk www.g8artists.co.uk
Thanks Jackie for a wonderful day out to one of the far corners of Hong Kong. It was wonderful to discover such a beautiful part of the country and the photo workshop was perfect for a novice like myself. I really enjoyed the photographic challenge you set us - it's definitely made me look at my surroundings in a different way. I liked that you had a semi-professional and a novice in your group and yet you were able to easily work with us both, without it being either too complicated or too easy for either of us. I've gone home with a camera full of images of a part of Hong Kong that I know few tourists get to see - in fact I didn't see another tourist all day long: wonderful. Emily New Zealand
The Photography Tour with Jackie was such a great experience. She taught me so much about my camera, composition and field of depth. I would recommend this trip to everyone from newbies trying to learn to experienced photographers. Will definitely try to fit in more hikes with Jackie and Marco the next time I'm here! My husband, John Doogan, is a professional photographer from New Zealand, with a particular interest in landscape photography. Many years before we had both had separate trips to Hong Kong, venturing little further than the inner city and a train trip to the Chinese border. We have known Jackie Peers professionally and socially for many years, so looked forward to joining her on a series of Photography Walking Tours in Hong Kong.
What a wonderful and unexpected environment we were introduced to: jungle walks, seascapes, hills. John was particularly interested in the abandoned villages and got some great images of the decaying houses, the belongings left behind by the last inhabitants, and the way the jungle is reclaiming the houses. Jackie is a great companion. Her local knowledge lead us to areas we would never have found or even known about. As a photographer herself, Jackie understands the potential for images that different areas hold, and also the need to spend a little time capturing those images.
We appreciated the exercise and the very nice lunch and snacks Jackie supplied.
We both enjoy walking and consider it is a great way to get to know a place, seeing so much more than you ever can from public or private transport.
We had a fantastic time and thoroughly recommend Walk Hong Kong as a great way to discover the unexpected side of Hong Kong, and a great way to spend some time if you are a keen photographer. Jac and John Doogan, New Zealand Plover Cove
